The Trooper in the photo is S/Sgt Everett M. Bennett of Spencer, Va.
S/Sgt. Bennett entered the service after Germany surrendered. He was 19
years old at the time and never served in combat. On this day,
February 10, 1947, Sgt. Bennett was manning an out-of-the way
checkpoint.
